Why...Go See Be?

My philosophy on travel is simple. Go when you can, you'll be glad you did.

Travel is one of life's greatest investments. However, it's not a full time deal for me. I have the advantage of summers off but that's not the case for my husband. The ideal trip to me may be as short as a weekend get-a-way or as long as a two week stay. My favorite places allow me the opportunity to sit back and breathe in the life around me. The Earth is full of beautiful places and you don't have to go far to find them.

My love for travel was sparked as teenager when I spent 2 weeks traveling the British Isles- throughout England and Scotland. My grandparents have always prioritized travel so they planted that seed in me early on. My grandma told me to make it a point spend time journaling the ins and outs of each day spent traveling--that's when my love of writing began. My older brothers both spent time traveling solo at a young age. They ventured to remote villages in Asia and Central America before the days of smart phones… my poor mom!

In college I was able to complete my student teaching in Australia. This was a powerful time for me. Moving (for a season) to a new city, country, and continent not knowing a soul was defining. My life was shaped more than I could have imagined during those months away. I fell in love with the Australian culture and their “no worries” philosophy. Day-to-day moments there seemed to be slower, naturally allowing more of an opportunity to take in small moments and live a more balanced life.  My eyes were opened to new ways of living, and an appreciation for a more “cruisy” lifestyle.

I also had the amazing opportunity during those months to road trip the South Island of New Zealand. I was constantly in awe of the beauty all around me. My time in New Zealand solidified a deep desire to travel and learn to embrace the unknown.

Since then I’ve learned that beauty can be found anywhere in the world and often it just takes one step. A step back… an intentional moment to take in a sunset, lay down in a field of flowers, or even people watch at a cafe. These are moments to reconnect. We are made for moments when we can take a deep breath, reflect, and see life with a fresh perspective.

Go See Be is a creative outlet that combines my love for travel, writing, and photography in a way that can be shared with others. I hope that it will inspire you to get out there. I will be sharing some of my experiences from my favorite places near and far. Planning a trip doesn’t have to be hard. It’s a puzzle that comes together piece by piece and the overall picture can change you from the inside out.

When you get the time away... I hope you will be able to see your life from a different viewpoint, be fully present in the moments you have there, and that most of all, you will enjoy the journey.
